pulled credit report.
one entry from LVNV funding, showing a debt and in collection.
I think this is completely bogus. Do I send them letters asking for specific information regarding the debt or just dispute it up front.

You must get the debt validation done by LVNV Funding. The number to reach them is 888-665-0374.

If they don't validate the debt, dispute their item in your credit file with the credit bureau. Send one copy to the collection agency. Give your letter the legal importance and tell them to fix it at the earliest. No company is legally allowed to report inaccurate data in the consumers' credit reports. Either they give you proof of this debt being valid or the CRA has to remove the item and send you an updated copy within 30 days.

The original creditor will sell the account to the CA who then becomes the current creditor. They can hire an attorney for the collections. In any case, the company hitting your credit report should have your debt info and must be able to validate it. If LVNV has taken you to the court and you haven't received their DV yet, use the receipt of the certified mail as a strong defense

ok thnx alot..i did keep my receipt from certified mail..ive actually already been to court twice over this..the1st tiem they did not show and apparently had asked for a continuance and i didnt recieve notice of it until 2 days later..the 2nd time i went they showed but asked for another continuance because they apparently didnt have the info i requested and told the judge they needed time to gather it up...judge asked me if i was ok with this and i said yes.. big mistake i think i should have said no because by that time 2 months had passes since summons and they should have had it all together by then..but too late to do anything about it now except to tell judge at next court date if they dont have proper validation then i request it to be dismissed..is that what i should do???
