Collection agency calling after debt settlement letter sent

I sent a debt settlement letter to a collection agency offering them half of what i owe.They did not return the signed agreement to me yet, but have just now started leaving messages on my voicemail asking me to contact them.Should i talk to them over the phone?I do not want to say anything wrong.

You can talk to them and explain that you have sent the paperwork to them and you need them to sign and return the documentation to you so that you can get the account settled out. Tell them that you need all further communication in written correspondence.
