Creditors calling a neighbor

A debt collection agency called my neighbor and asked that she give me a message for me to call the toll free # and it was urgent. I was very upset that they would contact my neighbor. Why did they not send me a certified letter to give me a chance to call. I may have received a call but due to so many telemarketers would not have paid attention
Do I have any recourse in this matter. My neighbor is elderly and should not be bothered with this.

They were skiptracing....totally legal. They are permitted to leave messages as long as the debt is not disclosed. They probably have sent you a letter....but not certified.
You have no recourse. Call them and either pay the bill or cease and desist them.
