Question about charge offs.

My bank account with Washington Mutual was charged off in late 2004. Has the SOL for collection on the account passed? I live in WA state.....and can someone please explain this SOL stuff in simple terms?

Sorry, I do not know whether this is an open account (3 years) or a written contract (6 years).
However, SOL refers to the amount of time a creditor has to sue you. If the time frame has lapsed, you may claim expiration of SOL as a defense in court. Collection attempts may continue for years.
