What is statue of limations (SOL) time in Texas to collect a very old debt, or legal for collections agency to report it to Experian, Equifax, etc. as bad debt? I live in Texas and have a debt that was written off in June 1990 and someone is now trying to collect on it.

SOL in TX is 4 years from date of last payment. It is the amount of time that legal action can be brought against you. Reporting period is 7.5 years from the date of first default. Neither expiration of SOL or reporting period extinguishes the debt. An unpaid debt is collectible forever. If it's that old, send the CA a full cease comm FOAD letter.
