Paying debt collector

For quite some time now my mother was sending in payments to DCS and not the us sudent loan treasury. Where has that money I have sent gone is there a way to find out what that money has gone towards paying off my loans? or are they just taking my money and doing nothing with it?

Payments sent to the CA's are sent to the USDOE. Your $200 is applied first to any outstanding collection costs, then interest and finally principal. The USDOE then pays the CA their commision on what you paid. Keep in mind as long as the account is assigned to DCS, they will get their commision.
