There seems to be a lot of this going around lately with phone / cell phone companies. If the debt is that old, it is well beyond the SOL so they cannot take any legal action. Send the CA a "Cease and Desist" letter. You can also go ahead and request validation, which you already know they can't provide - but it will cover you if they do attempt to take any further action.
If you don't agree you owe the debt, ask for them to be validate

If she is going to "take action" that would affect your credit, I would take action in court. Unless your in Ohio, no doubt the SOL has long run on that alleged debt.
