Calm down and take a deep breath.

OK....better now?

I would mail them your debt validation letter CMRRR. Do not e-mail. Fax is ok as long as you follow up via snail mail. Again, make them prove that they have the right to collect and that you actually owe the debt. They are trying to frighten you and it's working. Don't buy into their BS.

Jersey Girl, you need to settle down and don't be afraid! Answer nascar's questions so that we can help you. DON'T SEND THEM A DIME! Send them a DV letter CMRRR immediately! They need to prove they own this debt and have the right to collect it. You need to get a copy of your credit report to see when the last time that you paid on this debt, it's possible that it is beyond SOL.

Jersey Girl....you messaged me on my page but since you're not registered it is hard to message you back so I am copying your questions here:

I'm going to assume you are in New Jersey. NJ SOL is 6 years on written accounts and 3 years on open-ended. What type of debt is this? They cannot garnish unless they sue and in reality $500 may not be worth theri time. Key is STOP TALKING TO THEM ON THE PHONE

Again....do not pay anything until they validate the debt. Do not even make a promise to pay.

www.annualcreditreport.com you can pull for free once a year. You can also find backdoors that will allow you to pull more often...Google "Backdoor credit reports"

Hang on to those VMX's, if they say their going to sue and don't, they have violated and they may be paying you. CALM DOWN! EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!

First of all they are not allowed to say civil case. law suit or attorney Before returning the call buy a tape recorder and record the whole conversation. Most likely they will violate the FDCPA(Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)! It costs nothing for an attorney and you can sue them and probably get a $1000 and maybe even ur debt cleared. Michael Kahn & Frank Shapiro are not attorneys!! They are overpaid idiots that think the FDCPA doesn't apply to them! They can do nothing to you. The only client that actually legitamately sues is Bank of America or Nu Island Partners. The rest is b*llsh*t! They can't do anything to you in regards to pay day loans they are illegal in most states of the US. The rest of the stuff they collect on is garbage that you don't even need to pay back b/c your over the time allowed. General time is 5-7 years. Varies depending on your state. Trust me sue them and make sure u record any conversations you have and save all voicemail messages!!! You'll definately get money!

I'm receiving calls from these folks. They are threatening to have me arrested at work and to have my references arrested also. I can't get any information to send a DV requesting the appropriate information. Their phone number is always busy and other numbers have been disconnected. I believe I was given bogus names of employees also. What should I do?

CMRRR is not something you get. It's something you do.

CMRRR (cm/rrr, and other abreviations of the same sort) refer to sending a letter via Certified Mail, with Return Receipt Requested. Get together whatever letter you want to send them, with an addressed envelope. Take the whole schmear down to your local Pest Orifice, and tell the nice lady at the window that you want to send it certified mail, return receipt requested. There are a couple of really brief forms you'll need to fill out and attach to the letter, the postal clerk can help you with them. The whole thing takes less than five minutes, and costs about five bucks.

For your money and hassle, you send a letter that you can track online, to make certain they actually get it. When the letter arrives at it's destination, they will be required to sign for it. Then you'll get that signed, dated, postmarked proof back in the mail. Usually takes a week or 10 days. Once you get that proof card back, you hang onto it. That's your legal, irrefutable proof that they got what you sent. Also handy for proving whether they got your little note before or after they took some action of their own.

Is simple, really. :)

Don't let our use of abreviations (like CMRRR) throw you. We tend to cut the tedious corners where we can. Gives us more time to actually help, rather than type.

Does anyone ahve an address for them. I've been receiving calls but refuse to call them abck simply because of the messages they leave which as has been previously stated are threatening in nature. I can tell they are used to using intimidation tactics. I simply want to send them a letter CMRRR, but even online I have not been able to come up with an address.
Thanks.

These people are contacting me from an orignal payday loan that I took out $300.00. They are stating with fees and a $120.00 fee to deposit the money into my account and 150% finance charge euqals $900.00 When I asked for some information on the orginal loan she said that I should have that. THen when I asked for the number to the company for the orignal loan she said that she didn't have that as well. When I asked her for something in writing she states that they send me something and I didn't respond. I didn't get anything in the mail from anyone. When I originall made settlement on this account I thought I was going to have the money in the account. The check was returned for NSF she stated it is illigal to write NSF across the state lines. What is my next recourse? She wants me to pay $100.00 immediately or they are going to start garnishing my wages. Can they do that? Help so I know what i need to do.

well for one if this was an internet loan then you didn't write a single check.also it depends on the state you are in,but to garnish they would need a court order.that doesn't happen overnight.in fact in some states you can't be garnished for anything except tax debt, student loan debt,or child support.srs is a scam that needs to threaten stuuf like garnishment.do not send this person a dime.insist on something in writing.

I have been receiving calls from this so called company regarding my son. When I checked out the info they gave me and talking to my son I called them back and told them I was onto their scam and not to call me again. They got real nasty and ask me what I was going to about it if they keep calling me, I promptly said this and hung up. They were real nice with all their prior calls. So, to all whom are getting these calls I would suggest, let them take their best shot. For what I have been reading they are full of hot air.
