Ok, I made a huge mistake...I let Redline Recovery bully me into setting up payment arrangements and giving them authority to do electronic checks from my account. Now I see that they are charging me a $7 fee for the checks. I did not know about this fee or agree to it. Can I stop payment on the next scheduled check and send them a letter saying I do not authorize any more deductions from my account?

i would imagine that it IS voluntary but there is always a charge for electronic withdrawls. Sorry u didn't know this beforehand!
I'm thinking u need to call ur bank and stop all transactions by them or ask them what ur options are. I have a feeling by calling Redline u won't get very far!
Good Luck,
Ang

before i do that, I would call the company and explain that you were not tolds about the 7.00 fee. Often times that will reverse it. If this is going to be an on going thing, I would revoke the authorization for ach debits , and send them money orders. Be sure your account is safe from future debits from them

I agree with ang and kash. You are allowing them to debit your account, so you can certainly cut that privilege off to them. Also, I think it is mandatory that all places collecting a debt offer alternative ways to pay, (i.e. money order, moneygram, etc). If you aren't able to get far with them, maybe the bank will block the debit. Then I'll bet they will let you pay another way! :-)
