I was in an auto accident that was my fault 3 years ago. I went to court, had to pay restitution, court fees, serve probation etc. I was not insured at the time. Now their insurance company has summoned me for over $12,000 in medical bills they paid for the plaintiff. I want to deny owing the $, for it should have been court ordered the first time around (along with everything else). How should I respond, and can I just write a simple letter? I cannot find forms for WI. Please help!

Unfortunately it looks like the first case brought against you was criminal which would be brought by the state or federal government. This newer case is civil which means it would not coincide with the criminal case and would be brought by a private party. Probably the most popular example of this is the O.J. Simpson trial. He was found innocent by the state for murder but he lost the civil trial for wrongful death and was forced to pay money to his wife's family.

If you had an attorney for your first case then it would probably be wise to consult with that attorney again.
