My husband was served with a summons on 2/26/08 we have no clue what to do can you help lead us in the right path? It is from a hospital for medical bills.

You need to respond to the summons and show up in court or you will get a default judgement against you. In some states there will be mediation where you can work out a payment plan. If you can hire an attorney that would be the best as a good attorney can generally drive the amount way down. Is the plaintiff the hospital or a third party collector?
