I got a summon in the mail from como law firm in st paul,mn on my medical bill. They are saying I have to sign it and send back to them within 20 days. That bill was around $1600. Now they are saying I have to pay them some other costs and interests bla bla. I dont know what I should do now. Anyone else deal with them before ?

Thanks
Joe

Does the summons contain the name of the court, case number and date and time when you have to appear before the judge? You can also look up the county court site to check if a lawsuit has indeed been filed against you.

Since you have receive the summons you may consider filing reply to it without fail. No reply from your side would allow the, to win a default judgement against you. You can also consider contacting the plaintiff's attorney to discuss a settlement outside the court to avoid the court date.

I am wondering if that is real or not...Does it have a docket number on it? You should take it to your local court house to see if it is real or not...

Usually a summons does not come from the law firm, it comes from the courts, I don't know how your state works though. If it is fake, you have them on a number of violations in which you can sue them on but please check with the courts first.

I received one too where they came to my house and handed me the same papers for a $200.00 bill that did not even belong to me once I checked with the credit reports. I checked and it was fake. I am thinking of bending them over on this one for harassment. My child answered the door and got all creeped out.
