Credit Report question
Date: Mon, 09/24/2007 - 08:10
First of all, all the numbers are different. hsbc charged off one amount, then lvnv added about 50 bucks to that amount. But on the summons that I received (see separate thread) they are requesting the orginal charged off amount from HSBC and the summons claims that this amount included attorney's fees.
Now the "recent balance" lvnv is claiming is the orginal charged off amount plus 50 bucks.
Why are they so sloppy? Is this something I can point out to the credit bureaus?
Please excuse the spelling errors!!

Hi Njbetty. I'm by no means an expert in this, but I would think that you have every right to dispute this. They are reporting more than you owe so I think this could be something that is correctible (sp?)
You should dispute everything that you can on your credit report
You should dispute everything that you can on your credit report but a few at a time. The older stuff will usually come off because they don't have the time or personnel to dig up the info. The recent stuff may or may not but it is always worth trying. If you are not successful try again later.

HSBC is the worst. The took both my wife and I too court even though I sent them a letter trying to work out arrangements. I cost me 900.00 each on each 300.00 debt because of all the added charges. I am paying 50.00 a month times two to their law firm which I would have done anyway.

Yes, frogpatch, hsbc is the worst. I tried to contact them so many times about the debt - they had all ready charged it off, so they ignored me. They are so sloppy also.
thank you and eleroo for the advice. I'm working on answering the lawsuit now, so I'll dispute once this is over with.
