I went through a divorce in 2009. I was forced to leave my job in Mississippi and move back to Tennessee. I was left with all my credit card debt. I had contacted the credit card companies and told them my circumstance. Shortly after returning to Tennessee I became ill. I applied for Social Security Disability and was awarded my Disability.
I was delivered a summons to appear in court for the balance of one my credit cards through Midland Funding LLC. I am living on my Disability of $784 monthly. What is my recourse with this company. I tried to call them and the number is not working. Help!

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!

It does not matter to the collection agencies as to whether you are disabled. They are only concerned about collecting money from consumers. They can file lawsuit against the disabled persons for non-repayment of debts. You can't do anything about this.
However, there are protections for the disabled individuals against credit card debt lawsuits. Even if the collection agency wins a case against you, then also they will not able to garnish your Social Security Benefits. Still, I would advise you to consult a lawyer regarding this matter. He may be able to help you in this matter.
