Trying to get a collections report off my credit report

Hi folks,
8 years ago I had an AT&T cell phone. I was assured that it would work in the new place I was moving, so I renewed my service. It didn't work and I was furious and refused to pay my early termination fee. The CA Public Utilities Commission ruled that I didn't have to pay the fee, but AT&T hit me with all these other charges and a few monthly bills. They chased me for years for a $150 bill, then turned it over to Palisades, a junk debt buyer.
At the time, I was very young and didn't know what a FICO score was. Now I'm trying to get this crap off my credit report, which is otherwise spotless. I just paid Palisades $75 (they offered to cut the debt in half). So the collection stuff's over, but now I want to get it off my credit report. I didn't realize they were a junk debt buyer when I wrote the check.
Any advice?

Have you paid Palisade already? if so then make sure that you get the statement of 'paid as agreed' form them. You should then ask them to notify the credit bureaus with the update. If the account keep appearing on your report, then you need to intimate the bureaus yourself with the certificate of 'paid as agreed'.
