Hello. I am receiving phone calls from this group telling me I owe money and a debt to Payday Services. Looked online and found out that this is part of a scam. They have been calling my cell every month at least twice each month and tonight sent me an email threatening me that I would be legally prosecuted in the Court House.
What are my options? I am contacting the FTC tomorrow but am unsure if should also contact Payday Services to see if they have any info. Should I contact these people again or ignore them? Enough is enough.

After posting that blurb yesterday, received an email from said company that said it would report and have me prosecuted in court house. Also the amount has now changed from when was informed the first time. Am getting tired of them. Do I need to contact agencies and others about possible scam? Would appreciate any insight into this matter.

They are more than likely completely illegal and not collecting anything legit. The fact they are threatening prosecution is a dead giveaway because you CAN'T be prosecuted for an unpaid debt.
Unfortunately the best weapon in their arsenal is the constant harassing calls because just like they can't do anything to you, you can't do anything to them.
You can just keep hanging up, but experience has shown me that this doesn't generally work. You can try what I do...they get so frustrated and angry they stop calling after a while.
Basically just shoot the breeze...ask 3 billion questions, just meander all over the conversation and treat it as a great joke..."Your going to prosecute me? Hmm..do you think the cops will want tea and cookies when they come to the door? Is Earl Gray too much? Perhaps a Chamomile Mint tea...to calm them down you know...oh hey did you know that Mint in tea has shown to...." and on and on and on...
I have done this after first hanging up constantly, threatening to call FTC and cops on them..nothing worked...but shooting the breeze and just talking their ear off got them hanging up on ME and then the calls just stopped.:twisted:
