I have been told a judgment is good for 10 years and then they can request it be re-newed for another 10 years. Is that true? How do they do that?


Actually, it depends on the state you were in when the judgment was granted. Here's a link http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitationsJudgments.shtml. Put in your state and then click "see your state's statute of limitations" and it will show you how long that will be. More information below that in regard to renewal of judgments too!
