I have been getting numerous calls both on my cell and work phone from CFG & Associates. The recording from a Nick says they need to talk to me before decisions are made on my behalf. I finally called them back and a James Wilkerson that answered the phone told me it was about a Check n Go account that I owed. A few years ago I did have a Check n Go account, but to my knowlege it was paid off long ago. I had to make payments to them, but unfortunately, I don't think I have any payment receipts. I would have thought that I would have heard from Check n Go if I didn't completely pay it off. Anyway, this guy was extremely arrogant and rude and laughed when I asked him any details about who he was, his company and what the debt was he says I owe. I told him not to call my work number any more and I asked for verification of the debt. He again laughed saying he didn't have to provide with any such documentation. He said I didn't know who I was dealing with. I took that as a threat. He eventually just hung up on me because he didn't like my requests. But in the past few days, that number has called both my work and cell phone on numerous occasions. BTW - the caller ID number comes up as if it's a local call with my (937) area code, but the number to call back is 877-854-0260.
I have since sent a DV letter via certified mail to the address (P.O. Box 276202, Boca Raton, FL 33427)that he almost refused to give me. We'll see if I get a reply. I have been a victim of identity theft in the past, and I simply don't deal with any financial issues over the phone. I have no idea who this guy or this company is, and I've yet to get anything in the mail from them.
Any advice?

You have taken the right step. If they don't send you a debt validation letter, then you should send a Cease and Desist letter to them. If the debt collector still calls you, then report the matter to FTC.
