I just got a call from Lockhart, Morris & Montgomery, Inc about a loan with City County Credit Union I took out several years ago for the College Network scam.

The lady left me a message saying that she was calling to let me know that the bank had petitioned for an affidavit of complaint regarding my certifications.

She basically threatened that if we didn't pay back this debt that our wages would be garnished and they could take away or prevent us from becoming certified in the future (I'm in nursing school, my husband is a paramedic).

We filed bankruptcy last summer and apparently this loan (which was sold to us as a personal loan) is considered a private student loan which is not dischargeable on a bankruptcy. They want the entire balance or a promise to pay it on a payment plan in 6 months. I've referred them to my lawyer but need to know if they really can do anything with our wages or prevent us from obtaining certifications.

thanks
