Can a debt collection, from a department store, use Private in caller ID when calling to collect on a debt?
It irritates me because I am a terminally ill patient, and I think it's the doctor calling when it's these people who won't cease and desist no matter what I ask.

You cannot "ask" verbally for them not to call you...you need to send a cease and desist in writing.

Yes, collectors are known to encrypt and hide their numbers to prevent consumers from backtracking. There are no laws against it though. Just send them a C&D letter in writing.
