i have a citi financial loan that i have litterally been paying on since i was 18 now 25 i had missied a few payments because i was on disability and couldnt pay anything now they are telling me it is going to be sent to the magistrates office....so what happens after they have sent it to them do i get put in jail or do they work with me on littlier amounts

Hi Guest,
Your creditor can file a law suit against you if they think they are unable to collect anything from you and they can obtain a judgment against you from a civil court. But it doesn't mean that you will be put behind bars as judgment is only an acknowledgment that you have incurred the debt.

I guess if you don't appear for summons whereas 'writ of execution' has been performed for collection then a bench warrant for arrest can be issued. Not showing up is a contempt of court but as you were disabled and if you do have documents to prove, then the judge won't rule anything against you. Moreover, you have been paying them for the last 7 years, so I would suggest you to talk with them and explain the reason of defaulting. Hope they will understand and arrange a plan for you.
