Hi,
I sent out a debt verifcation letter to Northstar Location Services and got the following back from them: Just statements from my Bank of America credit card dated from Jan. 2009
It was an joint account with my late husband. I do not ever remember having this card. It could have been that my late husband put me on as an joint account holder.
Northstar Location did not send me anything regarding an agreement they had with Bank Of America to collect on BoFA's behalf. Nor did they send me a copy of the original signature card.
Also, in my original debt verification request, I requested they cease telephone contact with me. To this date, they are in violation of that because they still call me every day. Now, I let them go straight to voicemail.
Advice please. What is my next step?
Thank you!

you need to first send a DEBT VALIDATION LETTER.they technically verified the debt, but if you were only an authorized user then you are not liable for the debt.second you need to contact BofA,and explain to them the situation.if your late husband put you as an authorized user without you knowing then you need them to remove you from the account.third check your state laws in regards to recording calls, and the admissabilty of those messages.then go to NACA.NET,and find a consumer contingemcy lawyer.again re-send the leeter only put the word VALIDATION.make them prove you owe this.verification only applies to verifying the debt exists.be prepared to sue as northstar is a complete bottomfeeder that violates the FDCPA regularly.
