if you call a credit card company to dispute a claim on a bill, can they lawfully reduce your credit without telling you. Even though thats not what you originally called about? the thing is i had a high balance on a card and a charge on my card that i wasnt sure about, so i called to dispute it. well then they started asking me questions about my income and stuff even though ive always paid my bill on time, never late with a payment! they informed me that they are lowering my credit limit! can they do that?

They can. You signed the agreement when you got your card and it is up to them to decide how much credit to give you. Most credit card companies that I'm familiar with have a clause in their agreements that state they can change your credit limit without a reason. You can try calling the credit card company again and asking to speak to a manager but that may or may not work. If you do decide to call the company, be sure you get the names and employee #s (if possible) and write down what was said, as well as the date and time you spoke to them.
