I have been harrassed by people speaking in Indian from India about my dead brother owing them $200.00.
I want to know if they are real or not. They said they are from the united states legal department.
Their phone number they are calling from is :+052522016.
They said they are going to sue me if I donot pay.
Is this a real US department???? Or is this a scam????
Please respond

There is a US legal department (Department of Justice), but they do not handle collections. And they are NOT located in India, the main department is in Washington DC. Next time they call (if they call again) tell them you will not talk to them unless they provide you with proof that your brother owed them money. Then I would go to lawguru.com and ask a question there (from a lawyer in your state for free) as to whether you have to pay your dead brother's debts.

This same phone number is constantly calling me saying his name is Detective Jack Taylor from the US Legal Investigative Department. I ask him not to call me and he says he just wants to be my friend. He says he is in NY and his office is 100 Church St New York, NY. He gave me a phone number yesterday of 914-721-5059 but when I call it, its just says the mailbox is invalid. I have threatened to call the police and he still calls me. He called me this morning I asked him again not to call me anymore and he just keeps saying why? why? Your breaking my heart. I need help on how to stop him.

This psycho has been calling me non stop for a month, he changes the number after I set it to go straight to voicemail. He actually left my social security number on my voicemail! This is beyond ridiculous- He said he would put a freeze on my social and the FBI would arrest me tomorrow. Its laughable!!! The only thing that bothers me is he has my social. Nothing new is on my credit report but now I have to sit and watch it. Its scary. Ive seen many people saying they filed a complaint with the authority's but it continues. He calls every 2 mins for an hour at least twice a week. Its starting to really piss me off.

I had to deal with these people and knew right away they were not legit. Of course, the heavy Indian accent gives it away. Plus, they said the MoneyGram was going to Chicago via a person to person...no collection agency does that. After they kept calling, I filed a complaint on the Federal Trade Commission website. They take it seriously when someone threatens to put you in jail...which they don't due for a debt. And it's even more serious when someone is acting as a US Agent. Don't send them money and don't talk to them. If anything, call them as unknown and just sit there on mute. :) Or give them he**...which ever way you like it.
