You should not have even offered to pay the debt by MO honestly, in a way that can be construed as an admission to the debt BUT you can easily argue that you were intimidated into that by her abusive and illegal threats. If they call again, confirm your mailing address and inform them that they have 5 days to send you a letter regarding the debt. Then refuse to speak to them further....they call, you say, "I am waiting for your letter" then hang up. Do it every time.
