Phoenix Credit, LLC

I received a letter from Phoenix Credit, LLC on May 21, 2010 stating that they are a collection agency trying to collect on a debt that I owe to an online payday loan company. When I got home from work and opened the letter I called the business. I first spoke with a lady told me that I needed to pay this off today. She would not give me her name and I told her I was unable to pay. I then stated that I will call her back when I have the ability to pay it off. At that point she said that is not possible and that is not how this works that before i get off this phone I will have this paid. She then proceeded to yell at me saying that she can have me put in jail, and asked if I was a police officer. She stated that I was going around writing bad checks and that was against the law. I asked if they had a check with my name and signature on it, she said they did and she was trying to find it. Thats impossible since it was a payday loan that was done online. I told her that I was not a police officer, so then she got mad a asked then what was it that I did for work. I told I was not going to give her that information. I said I must be willing to pay since I was the one that called them. She was still being hostile towards me so I ask if I could speak with someone else. She advised me that wouldnt be a good idea and thats it going to cause a lot of trouble for me. She transferred me to a guy named Jonathon, he started talking and when I went to answer he told me that I was not to talk. He told me he listened to the whole conversation and that they need a payment arrangement immediately. He then proceeded to yell at me and tell me that this is going to be payed off now and there is no other option. I told him that there is no way I can pay it today. He said thats fine and he will proceed with legal proceedings and get the money and have me put in jail. I told him that I am not going to deal with this and that I will have him talk with my attorney on the matter. Jonathon said that would be great and that he would go ahead and call them and talk with them instead of them calling him. I told him that I will get them to call. At that point he told me if he doesnt get an answer by noon today because the first lady I talked to was to have the paperwork on his desk by noon then he was going to start legal proceedings to have me put in jail. I asked how is it that the deadline is the day I called. According to them they have sent me other letters which I never received and if they have waited that long why is it now they have to have it done in a couple hours. He wouldnt answer that. I know Texas and Louisiana law states that a payday loan business cant press charges for bad checks.
