Opinions on medical collections

I'd like to get some opinions on ways to handle medical collections. This would be for people that have a lot of unpaid medicals and have no means to pay or maybe their only source of income is disability. Which would be the best way to approach the situation? I wonder if when they receive collection letters, would it be good to respond with a letter to address their financial status "and" maybe supply a copy of their disability award letter?
Anybody have any suggestions?

Yes, I agree with you. When a person receives collection letters
Yes, I agree with you. When a person receives collection letters on medical debt, he can reply to that by sending in letter on the financial status. He will have to mention that he is willing to pay off the dues. Sometimes doctor's offices, and hospitals too offer payment plans for unpaid medical bills. So, one can opt for such offers.
