I have court ordered mediation with Marcadis & Assoc for a Chase acct. It's within the SOL and I know some law, I'm a civil PI paralegal. What chance do I have to settle with these scumbags at mediation? They claim that I owe over $12,000 which of course is a lot of interest and penalties. I hate the fact that Chase took $25bn in bailout TAX PAYER money for over a year for them to get out of debt, but they don't afford that same thing to their customers. I tried to negotiate with Chase before I just stopped paying but they weren't willing. I'm just wondering if I have any chance at settlement at mediation or if I should hold my cards close until afterwards. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Some collection agencies agree to settlement, some do not. You can still try. Talk to the collection agency over the phone about the settlement, and if they agree to the settlement get the agreement in writing.
