A-1 Collection Serv - junk debt buyer?
Date: Sat, 08/21/2010 - 09:03
I'm working on a pay for delete letter - I only owe $163 on this debt, but if they are junk debt buyer I'm thinking of pointing out that I am aware they are a junk debt buyer and will therefore only pay $82.50 - 1/2 of what is owed because as a junk debt buyer it's very likely that they paid much less than $163 to own the debt.
Any thoughts or advice? Thanks.
ummm, i would imagine that referring to them as "junk debt buyer
ummm, i would imagine that referring to them as "junk debt buyers" over the phone will not get you in their good graces. you might be able to succeed at 50%, but you catch more flies with honey.
This will be done via a pay for delete letter, not over the phon
This will be done via a pay for delete letter, not over the phone, and no...I'm not going to say "I know you are a 'junk debt buyer'", I'm going to point out that I know they buy debts as a business and they very likely did not pay what they say I owe so I'm offering 1/2 to settle.
whomever reads and answers that letter 99% of the time doesnt A)
whomever reads and answers that letter 99% of the time doesnt A) know how much their client paid for the debt, nor B) care how much they paid. i dont think its going to get you a better settlement percentage. good luck though! 50% doesnt sound unlikely.
