CitiFinancial auto

I was doing a search on CitiFinancial auto. Clicked on thier website and was directed to a company named Santander Consumer USA.
That was odd I thought. I typed it in again thinking I made a mistake or something and again it was redirected to this Santander.
Well, apparently Citifinancial auto has sold it's auto loan division to this company. I guess this just happened recently. They are allowing consumers to make payments on thier website for loans from citifinancial.
My question is, if this company bought that division of citi. What then happens to original contracts and paperwork for accounts that have been charged off?
May be a stupid question but I was just curious.

I, too, have a loan from citifinancial. And I, too was transferred to the Santander Consumer site. Just my thought, but I think all old consumers will be allowed to make the payments through this new company. We will be considered as Citi's customers who will be routed through Santanders' site.
I see Santander also has a lot of complaints against them. Wonde
