Help With John P. Frye Collection Agency
Date: Thu, 10/14/2010 - 10:28
Hello,
I had a B of A credit card account for many years and after falling behind with them, my account was sold to this unheard of collection agency that poses as a law firm, John. P. Frye, which is located in Virginia. I had been on a payment plan with B of A for over two years, but fell behind because of being on unemployment and other financial issues. I actually called them quite a few times to explain my situation and see if they could lower the monthly payment, but they were not helpful and just told me to try and catch up. Welll, I did send them small amount of what I could afford and did make a payment in August, but found out that it wasn't enough and in September, the account was given to this John P. Frye company. I talked to them one time and of course they say they can't take payment and need the money as soon as possible, which is approximately $7500. I can make monthly payments of at least $150-200 but do not have a large amount of money to settle with these people. I am just trying to see if others have dealt with this company and what the outcome was. I dont have any wages they could garnish since I am still unemployed, though my benefits ran out at the beginning of August and my husband's name is not connected to this account whatsoever, so his wages cannot be garnished. I just need help trying to figure out what the next step should be and if I should try going up the managerial chain to see if I can have some sort of payment plan set up somehow. And they haven't been calling 24/7, yet, but they do call several times a day now. I just don't know how to proceed with them and after a lot of the horror stories I've heard about this company, I am almost scared to even try to speak with them further.
