Okay, today in the US Postal, I received a collection letter from the above mentioned. They indicated in the letter that I owe Credit One so much money and "at this time, no attorney with this firm has personally reviewed the particular circumstances of your account". An hour later, I am served a summons from the sheriff of an "Praecipe to reinstate complaint - civil action" against me. How can they send me a collection letter and a summons on the same day. There is no court date but I have "20 days after the complaint and notice are served by entering a written appearance personally or by attorney and filing in writing with the court your defense or objections to the claims set fourth" What exactly does that mean?

It means you have 20 days to respond to the summons and you (or your attorney) need to appear in court on the specified court date. There will be a list of claims on the summons you received. You need to respond to each claim. Your clerk of courts can help you with the proper forms.
