Atlantic Credit & Finance

Any tips on dealing with this collection agency? I received a letter that my account from HSBC had been purchased by Atlantic Credit. I contacted them today and cut to the chase regarding a settlement offer.
I offered 5,000.00, they sent me an email with an offer of 7681.06. Any suggestions for further steps...negotiations, etc. This is the first acct. that I have ever had taken to collections.
Thanks.

As far as this query is concerned, you can increase the settlement offer a little bit and wait for their response. They may agree to it.
