Garnishment

Is the debt owed by your boyfriend or you? If you are sharing a checking account, I believe it is legal. However, I believe only 1 creditor can garnish your wages at a time. It might be helpful to tell everyone what state you reside in, as state by state wage garnishment laws differ.

Take your name off your boyfriends account. Did you ever go to court over this?

I,m sorry we reside in Missouri. I did recover the court order and it is on me, not my boyfriend. They told me at the courthouse that I should go talk to the Sheriff's office and I did. They helped me file an affididavit that I was HOH and had 1 dependent, and that should return my monies back into the account. However, can I get those funds out immediately or do I have to wait?

They won't let us do anything to the account right now, since there's a court order against me. We can't even close it, or take my name off. We've stopped the direct deposits and I emptied my account out, and would be glad to pay them payments and tried, but they want more than I have to give them a month. However the payments from the bank account was less than they would let me pay. GO FIGURE!!
