I am being threatened with civil suit and criminal charges for a payday loan I don't remember taking out in May of 2010, from a place called Cashnet USA, they are giving me until the 10th of Feb to come up with the so called balance of 650.00. Any suggestions?

Return the call and ask these morons to validate the debt in writing. If they refuse, ask them for their physical address. If they refuse to divulge that, something is pretty much wrong and these guys are scam artists.

I think they are scammers. They are just trying to scare you. Don’t rely on their words. They can’t do anything. You can file a complaint against them to the SAG or FTC if required.

You can't be criminally prosecuted for a payday loan. Yes, a civil suit can be filed against you in the event of loan default. If you're sure that you've not taken out the loan, then there is no need to pay $650.00. Cashnet USA won't be able to do anything.
