Served with papers

We live in Texas and like many hit a very rough patch due to illness. We signed up with a debt settlement company who has settled one account in a year's time. Tonight we were served with papers. We are being sued by Zwicker & Assoc. for a Bank of America account. The debt settlement company hasn't done much considering how much we pay them. Do we need to pay extra for an attorney from their firm to handle this suit? Will Zwicker settle? We have no extra money and would be in big trouble if our checking account was seized by a judgement. So far we are current on our mortgage but a judgement would put that in jeopardy.
What is our best course of action? I could possibly borrow the money from my parent to pay half of the amount owed. But what happens when the next suit is filed? I suspect they may be lining up at our doorstep. What do we do?

Debt settlment companies do not get involved with lawsuits. That should have been outlined in your contract.
IMPO, settlement companies are a waste of time and money. You could have settled your accounts yourself and saved a ton.
