A few months ago I began receiving numerous letters from a "TRS Recovery Services". Each letter had a different reference number and a different debt amount. The company they pretended to be collecting for was Wal-Mart which they likely thought would be easy since "everybody shops there". The mistake they made however was that I don't shop there and therefore knew these claims were fraud. Moreover, I get a credit report twice a year and know all my debts. When I called TRS Recovery Services collection agency to know what this was about on FOUR separate occasions they refused to work with me unless I gave them either my drivers license number, bank routing number, bank account number or social security number! Upon my refusal they hung up on me everytime. I have spoken to WalMart as well as my back and have confirmed that I do not have any unpaid dates therefore these are con artists making false claims against me. Now they even have a fake law agency threatening to take legal action if I do not pay them only this time it is for one reference number and amount instead of the multiples like before. I've contacted my Attorney General and have yet to hear back on the matter. What else can I do to stop TRS Recovery Services scam?

im dealing with the company myself. telecheck purcheses the bad checks and they assing trs recovery to collect which is owned by telecheck.. i wouldnt pay them a dime send them a debt validation letter certified with return recipt.. there are some letters on the forms that you can copy paste.. the rule is if they cant validate they cant collect

What the hell are TRS, calling like they are some federal department. There's got to be a way to close down these false agencies. Can someone give me the TRS Recovery Services phone number?

My Bank withdrew money from my checking account yesterday and made a payment to TRS RECOVERY SERVICES, inc. in the amount for $25.00 for an ECA Return Item. What is this all about? It also says to charge to the account od D/036199. It was a paper check sent to my bank.

In addition to sending the certified mail DV letters to TRS Recovery Services, inc, you all need to contact your state's Attorney General regarding these people. If you can prove that they do not legitimately hold a debt that you created, and they are taking money from your bank account without authorization, it is theft and fraud, plain and simple. And then, slap your bank back into place as well, for allowing a fruadulent withdrawal from your account without your authorization.

This agency calls me twice a day on my cell phone asking for some Valencia, Hector and leaves messages in regards to this person owing them money. I'm tired of these messages. Trying to figure out how to block them. I tried calling them back today to protest and the recording said they couldn't assist me and goodbye! Is there any TRS Recovery Services contact information where I can write to them?

Hi Bigdog
LawStudent is correct. You can stop TRS Recovery Services Inc by sending the CA a cease and desist letter. Once the debt collector receives the letter, he can not contact you in any form. However, the debt collector can contact you once after receiving the letter, that too in writing, to notify you about their future actions- whether they will stop all collection efforts or will take a legal action against you. Always remember to send the letter via certified mail with a return receipt requested and keep a copy of the letter for your records.

Take care
Nelly

Bigdog... I'm getting the exact same thing from TRS Recovery Services Inc... cals for an Olga with the same last name as me... 2-3 calls a day asking about the debt; I've told them there is no Olga here, and when I tried the 800 number, all I got was an automated service with no way to talk to a live person;
Please post here is you have any luck... as will I;

Good luck to us both,

Bigdog... good news I think; I found a different TRS Recovery Services phone number - (800) 366-1049; I called this number and got a live person immediately; I gave them the reference number they had been leaving in the voice messages; They asked if I knew an Olga; I told them I did not; They asked for my phone number and they said they would remove me from the call list... we shall see;

I owed telecheck $30 for a returned check on a previous checking account that I had. Well, TRS Recovery Services Inc sent me a letter for the debt, which I knew I owed. I mailed them a $30 money order, and two months later, it came back to me in the mail saying "no such address." I called TRS and told them about the payment being sent back to me from the post office because there was no such address. They had the nerve to say, they don't know where I got that address from because it's not their's. The person I was speaking to was wanting to know if I had a new checking account so they could debit it for the $30. Of course, I told her no. They must think I'm some idiot. The address I mailed the money order to was the address that was on their letterhead and it was also on the enclosed return envelope they sent me for payment.

These people are a bunch of idiots :evil:

Just received a letter from Friedman and Wexler attorneys and counselors regarding an upaid check to TRS Recovery Services in the amount of $380.00 Ck #2098 Called TRS Recovery Services collection agency (another company has posted a website with TRS's contact addresses and numbers due to them having similar name but not same scam) So I called and the person I spoke to was OLGA (sound familiar?) and they said my debt was a check from Key bank written to WALMART. Funny I never write checks to WALMART I never had an account at Key Bank and my checks currently number 1000's. So OLGA told me I was a victim of theft identity and I should contact their forgery department and then she gave me some sob story about her neighbor who had her id stolen....I guess to make me believe her...the forgery department had a menu of items for me to send including my bank account numbers and my social security number ...I immediately went to STATE ATTORNEY GENERALS office but the web site didn't really have a consumer check scam that fit this one...so I am calling them on Monday and will be contacting Senator John DeFrancisco to file a complaint . I HOPE THEY SHUT THE TRS RECOVERY SERVICES scam in this time of economic woe to prey on people to do it at anytime it is horrible.

I very rarely write checks but because of my debit card number having been stolen I had no choice. Upon writing a check at WalMart I was told Telechek would not accept it. I called the number and was told they had a check which was returned to them in 2002 for $16.48 and if I'd like to pay with my current checking account they'd charge me a $12.95 service fee. Fine, I authorized a draft on my account for $29.43 on check #1166. Today my checking account statement shows a draft to TRS Recovery on check #1111 for $53.43!!! I got NO satisfaction from any of the illiterate high school dropouts that work there. I'll be calling their "recovery" department on Monday morning.........wish me luck.

I have also been getting calls from TRS Recovery Services Inc,. They originally called my sister-in-law who has a different last name and I have no clue how they made the connection. They also told me that I had written a check to Wal-Mart for over $600 from a bank I had never heard of. I called the bank and they had no record of an account in my name. The man at TRS has threatened me and called me a liar. Hopefully the cease letter will work but if anyone know how to make a complaint please let me know.

TRS has taking $30 dollars out of my bank using what they call a pre-authorized check...I have no idea who they are or why they took my money...I sure did not give them my banking information and an sure did NOT AUTHORIZE the transaction. I will be going to my bank and the attorney generals offic on Monday...sounds to me like we have a scam artist on our hands.

To everyone
Go directly to TeleCheck website and call the number listed there. You will need to confirm all the information on your check and give your drivers license # but they will treat you with respect and settle everything within 10 days. This was my first experience with them and so far so good. Good luck all!

I made a large purchase on Amazon using e-debit from savings. Amazon billed several small payments as individual items shipped, and my bank only allows 6 monthly online payments per month so a few payments did not go through. I got a letter from my bank to notify me of those transactions so I went to log into Amazon but my account was locked. So I waited for Amazon to contact me, but they never did... TRS certainly did. Calling all hours, multiple times an hour, every single day of the week. If I answered, I got a rude person immediately insisting "Visa or Mastercard?" I emailed Amazon, and tried explaining this to TRS but they said Amazon could not help me. Then they told me how much they wanted... more than $100 was added on to the amount actually due! I told them no way and hung up. Then they somehow got my boyfriend's phone number and started asking him for a credit card. RIDICULOUS. I called Amazon and got through to an Accounts Specialist to take my payment... no fees added! DO NOT PAY TRS RECOVERY. They add fees and pad the amount due, and their tactics are illegal. HERE'S WHAT TO DO: If you know a payment did not go through that you made to Amazon, call them as soon as possible directly at 1-866-216-1072. They will ask you your account email and can see whether or not your payment went through. Tell them you want to pay but are unwilling to use TRS Recovery because they have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. Ask that they refer you to an Amazon Account Specialist to whom you can provide a new payment method. Also mention to the Account Specialist your disgust with TRS Recovery. This is what I did and it worked for me, no added fees and no TRS hassel! Though beware, TRS may still call you... ignore them and report them to your local Better Business Bureau through www.bbb.org.

I really do owe them and I'm about to pay. But, your problem is really a problem because they are not supposed to debit your account unless you tel them to. In other words, they cant go into your account or ask your bank (or tell your bank) ANYTHING unless you speak directly to them first and give them permission to do so. I'm looking at one of their letters right here and it clearly says that they must have your permission first before they withdraw anything. If I were you, I'd give them a call @ 713-567-0499
I'd also call the better business bureau as well.

Happy Holidays.

I just received a letter from trs recovery systems. I tried to call them. Never got a real person. I was the victim of check fraud. Someone got my checking acct. info., made checks and went to Wal-mart. Wal-mart accepted a check for the amt. of 1159.75 without checking for a photo id. Now this trs sent me a collection notice for the amt of 1159.75 plus a returned item fee. This entire thing scares the H out of me especially after reading all the horror stories here. This is sure to ruin my credit rating and good standing because someone else took advantage and stole my information.

I too had the same problem. 4 letters from TRS. I sent the following in a certified letter and have received a letter from telecheck appoligizing for an error and stating that I should not have any problems in the future regarding this. I also recieved 1 phone call in which I explained that I was disputing the claim and had sent a letter stating that by certified mail. The lady noted it on the claim and I have not received any more phone calls. I did not give her any information regarding my bank account # or anything. Here is the letter I sent - feel free to copy!!!

Correspondence address:
TRS Recovery Services
P. O. Box 4857

Sent Certified Mail ( sent to both addresses for TRS)

Dear TRS Recovery Services,
I am writing in response to your letter, referenced above, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.
I have checked my bank records and NO returned amounts to Wal-mart (or any other company) have been recorded or sent back during the time frame you are claiming.
I have researched the Wal-mart stores you have referenced (in Plano). I have NEVER been in this store, much less owe them any money.
This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:
(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
(4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in Texas
Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:
??? because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense;
??? you cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
??? you do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA;
Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.
I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act ?? 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.
Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.

Sincerely,

The info at the bottom of the page they send you when you want to fill out a fraud form. Should give it away, it had "DO SEND TO GOVERNMENT AGENCY OR LAW ENFORCEMENT" now if that is not a give away I don't know what is. Anyway my brother got two bills from these creeps, that totaled $320.00 he ask me for help when we check with the bank there were no charges made to his account. We then went to the local police who informed us it was a scam, not to call them or send anything to them. I assure you they are under investigation in Ohio.

I'm actually thankful to the clowns at TRS for keeping me on my toes. They barked up the wrong tree when they messed with me. I'm sending them a verification of debt letter and I'm guessing that's the last I'll from them. Funny that they ask that all correspondence go to a P.O. Box, which you can't get a Return Receipt Request from. What I want to know is how these people live with themselves? I think this is the equivalent of Financial Serial Killing!

On Jan 22nd TRS took out $65.44 from my account. I called them to find out how long before I could write a check because I needed medication and they said 7-10 business days. The person said they would connect me to a supervisor or person that would help me, yeah right the woman who answered said 14 business days and did not care what the other person told me. It seemed to me she did not care if I had a heart attack, she was not going to help me in any way. I have heart problems, diabetes 2, swollen prostate and copd w/asma and my wife has diabetes 2 WE NEED OUR MEDICATION NOW NOT IN 2 WEEKS. Complain to the Better Business Bureau, that goes on file for the public to see, get enough of them then send a letter to President Obama w/ copies of complaints asking for government intervention on credit reporting companys to straighten out their butts.

Obama is a not-funny joke. And the BBB's not much better. I understand your concerns, and that you need that medication immediately. So direct your complaints to where they'll do some good. Here are some people/places to contact, in no particular order:

Your state Attorney General's office
Your local Council on Aging (that's what they call it here...) or equivalent
Your state representative
Your state Department of Social Services
Your state agency/department that deals with disabilities
Your local/state legal aid organization

Give it a shot. Some of these places may have additional ideas, even if they can't do anything themselves.

I have been going through the same as alot of you with TRS. This collection was started by Amazon. The employee put in incorrect numbers for my checking account so it did not process. For 4 weeks I received 2-5 call during the day with no one on the other end. I in turn sent a letter to the president of Amazon.com home office in Seattle Washington. I was told that they would be looking into advising the customer if there was a problem before sending in the sharks. If like me you were not getting anywhere with this garbage of a company, write a letter to the corporate office of the company that the dept was generated from. TRS/ Telecheck's home office is in Houston Texas. Alot of company's use them to collect for electronic checking. I would love to see them go out of business and hope the Attorney General in Texas gets wind of them and closes them down or fines them for breaking the law. Look up TheFair Dept Collection Act for info on your rights.

My roof was done by Home Depot. I paid 1/5 of bill via check for 3800.00. No problems. On 17 march 2010 Home Depot came to do my roof, and I paid the balance (3791.00). I waited and waited for my check to clear my account. THEN I get this thing in the mail from TRS ( telecheck/internet services) saying the 2nd checked failed to go through and to call them. I did..THeir solution was to wait till they could resubmit the check for the 2nd time. I got peeved, and hauled my fanny to my bank (BOA). They called to find out the problem at TRS. THE bank official was told by TRS that Home Depot clerk keyed in my acount number wrong. Gave TRS the correct account number and 5 working days later..the final amount of roof payment was paid. BUT..the banking officials never saw the electronic transaction form as it showed on my acct via the internet. They were gearing up to turn this entire mess over to the FRAUD section. Meantime, I was asked to go back to Home Depot to have them check to see what the heck was going on. THEY said..they finally got their monies..and the balance was zero. NOW Ihave monitor my bank account to make sure there are no future mess ups, deductions, charges, etc from this mess Just because a Home Depot clerk made a TYPO (they were probably on their cell phones talking to their kids, parents, spouse, bf or gf and were distracted..whatelse is new).
I guess 99 percent of businesses use this kind of service. Ill tell ya..I think some serious law suits are coming aorund between this TRS..the stores/businesses they serve, and the general public they be screwing over and ruining because of TYPOS..

PS..I forgot to include the area in which I live..Virginia Beach Va. 23456/23453 zip code ..
I have alerted everyone I know about this "third party" type transaction whenever one uses a check, cash card, debit card and charge card. The average person does NOT know that some type of a "telecheck/collection agency" is who we end up doin business with when we shop..and pay anymore..no matter what method of payment we use.
Everyone Ive told, is blabbing to everyone else..and from now on..Monitoring all our transactions ...and if there is ANY fraud ..(where this telecheck crap is involved) Im looking to press charges, and sue...

Been doing alot of diggin on this company. Best way I can say it, is..Telenet/TRS is nothing more than what the modern age/modern world/modern tech folks have created. IT is whats called "the middle man or third party" Whatever business you go to, no matter the payment method (be it cash card, check card, debit card, credit card or check) the business gets their money from this company..and then this TRS company gets their money they gave the business you shopped at..out of your account electronically.
IT is a modern day, legalized way of "LOAN SHARKING"

I'm getting random calls from TRS saying I have a debt to pay, but they will not tell me what its for or why I have to pay this debt. I have never heard of this company before and am very confused as to why I am being charged. Every time I try and talk to someone I get a voice recording and I have called about five different numbers. I just want to talk to someone so I know why and what I am being charged for. What was the address you sent it to? The notice I have says PO Box 60022 City of Industry, CA 91716-0022. Then at the top right it says: Corporate Offices: 5251 Westheimer Houston, TX 77056 Telephone: 713-567-0499. I haven't called the # yet. There's another address before the portion you're suppose to detach, it is P.O. Box 4857 Houston, TX 77210-4857. In the upper left corner of the portion that suppose to be detached is a different address: P.O. Box 5967 Glendale Hts, IL 60139-5967. At the bottom it says to send payment to the PO Box, I think they're referring to the 5967 box but idk. Kinda strange hugh? :confused:
