United Pre-Litigation out of GA

Just got a call from United Pre-Litigation out of GA. Telling me that I owe them 390.00 from a Payday loan I took out from JHS Mktg. They claim to have bought the debt and advised me that they will file against me in my hometown and will take me to court.

I see a number of posts about similiar companies, I just want to make sure that my response if any is the appropriate one.

Any help would be appreciated?

I should've been clear, they are located in GA. I'm in Washington state (PDL's are heavily regulated here). They say that they "bought" the debt from JHS Marketing. I sent JHS the letter advising that the loan was illegal, I overpaid etc.

They are saying they have a locator in my area....which I find hard to believe.

My next step would be to check this debt collector out with your state's secretary of state, corporations division....if they are willing to break laws in some areas, they are likely breaking laws in others. They may not be legal to operate within your state, depending on your state's registration or licensing requirements. if they are not, tell them where to go.
