This looks like an empty threat. They'll have to file a lawsuit before serving you papers. Check the court dockets once. Never pay anything unless you get something in writing.

I think they are scammer. They are trying to scare you. Don???t share any personal information with them. Next time if they call you back, hang up on them. File a complaint against them to the SAG or FTC.

Ask them to validate the debt in writing and if they fail send them a C&D letter. If its not a scam, they will have to validate the debt. If it is, they will have to stop calling you. Also, if they do fail to validate the debt, file complaints with the AG and the FTC. File a police complaint as well against the number these cons are calling from.

They give you a 855 number to call back.

I got another message today stating that if they did not hear from me that they would be out today to my place of business to give me my paperwork. I will have to sign and show 2 pieces of ID and have open availability.
She makes it sound real.
If she does show up what should I do?

I have research this company and they are involved with several lawsuits in several states for violating the Fair Debt collection Act.
I have filed a complaint with the FTC and my AG office regarding this.
Should I send a registered letter asking for debt validation in writing?:confused:

why bother when by all indications(meaning their calls)that they not only won't respond to a DV letter,but call more.you filed the complaints.file follow-ups in a week,but do not worry,and just ignore them.organtutans that escaped from a zoo is all they are,and all they will ever be.

By saying they will "serve" you they are implying they will sue you. If they are a collection agency and not a law firm, which I can assure you is the case, they are breaking the law. It is a violation of the FDCPA to imply you will do something that you cannot or do not intend to do. They should have first sent you a letter stating you have 30 days to dispute the validity of the debt. If you do so in writing they have to send validation to you before they can continue collection efforts.
If you owe the debt, contact the original creditor and resolve it. Make sure they are aware of the collection agency's tactics.
