I live in VA 6 years ago my husband died and I sold his truck to family (military couple) they registered it in MD and a year later in NC. 18 months after I sold the truck it was driven back to VA and eventually towed. I was contacted after Dominion Towing (DT) in Springfield VA sold the truck and told I owed them 1500 dollars for storage. VA laws requires them to contact the owner. I explained I did not own the truck and that it belonged to a couple in NC and they needed to contact the registered owner, they told me they only had to contact the last Virginia Registered owner. (a lot of harassment later) I received a letter from Eastern Revenue (ER) stating that I owed the tow company the money. I called Ann Nells at ER and told her the story and over a period of month provided her all the requested documentation. She said I had proven I did not own the truck and not to worry about it.

It has now been 4 year and in February I started getting calls from Eastern Revenue again. I called and Ann was still working there she recalled the issue and was surprised that I was receiving calls. She put her boss on the phone who proceed to scream at me that I needed to pay this money. The now have RJM coming after me. Last summer I cleaned out my files and no longer have the records other than the initial letter from ER which indicates they are licensed in NC. This is now effecting my job and I have been given notice that I need to get this fixed. What can I do? I don't even know the kind of lawyer I should hire to sue ER, DT, and RJM for harassment.

How is it affecting your job?? Calls? Simply tell them per the FDCPA it is inconvient/you cannot take calls at work. Send them a letter in writing via certified mail return receipt demanding no work calls.

While you are at it,dispute the validity of the debt. You are not the owner.

I dont see any violations against any of the CA's...calling you is their job. It you dont want the calls you have to inform them in writing per the FDCPA>
