Is there a limit as to the time that I have to ask for debt validation? It is past the thirty days that was stated at the bottom of the letter but I feel that if I ask for validation there will be none from this collection agency and perhaps I can get them off my back. By the way, I feel this account has been over paid by more than $1000.

Thank you

they cannot call, all collection activity must
stop until they can properly validate.there is
no time frame for this, but once they receive your DV letter they cannot attempt any collections
at all.

Ok...the 'Validation' thing again. Even if the CA CAN Validate debts, I've ACTUALLY heard of CA's getting BOGUS Validations, ya know? If this DOES happen, and you KNOW the Validation is bogus, what do you do? You can't really proof it.

what i meant was there is no time frame once they
receive the validation letter.the 30 day window
is from the date of the dunning letter.no time
frame is the collection agency,if they can't
validate they cannot collect legally.

a debt is owed until the sun goes supernova, but the timeframe which you can be sued is called the statute of limitations.it varies depending on the debt, and what state you are in.
