What is the next step if a collection agency does not respond to a validation of debt.

right guest, but if it is a JDB they might just sell it to another JDB.just because a CA doesn't respond that could mean they can't validate.keep an eye out for dunning letters or calls from other JDB'S.

There is no set time limit for a CA to do a debt validation, unless you are in Texas, and a few other states.

I have sent follow-up debt validation letters, and included a copy of the first one.
Some will not validate, as Paul said, and will just sell it or pass it on to another agency.

Always keep a paper tail from any of them. Keep copies of what you send and what they send you. Also keep notes of phone conversations. Send correspondence Certified, return receipt.

This will help you later if you need it...Good Luck to you..karen
