I had a Chase Credit Card and they sold (or assigned) it to a collection agency and later Chase got the debt back somehow and I still dint' have money to settle with them. Later Capital Management Services started calling me and sent me a letter but I was sick and didn'nt get a chance to mail them the Debt Validation letter within the 30 days.

Now, I want to settle this account but I don't know how I can make sure they are the right CA to pay and settle for the Chase account.

Can I still send them the Debt Validation letter after 30 days they sent the initial letter?
Is there other ways of making sure they are the holder of the debt?

This forum helped me tremendously so far. Thanks to all who contributed.

You can send a debt validation letter to your CA after the 30 day period. But, you should remember that the CA is not obligated to provide a reply to it. The CA may even continue the collection effort even if you send the validation letter. You might contact your OC and they might help you know whom they have sold off or assigned your debt account.
