Since you are the account holders, you should remove the extra cell phone right away. Verizon wireless may refund your account if a letter is provided to them with proper explanation. You do have the option to lock in your account so it can not be modified unless you have requested it in writing. They would leave a note in your account profile with the detail.

The phone number existed on my account however the ex wife upgrade her daughters phone and put it on my account without authorization. My account is password protected the store manager could only apologize up and down and the guy who assisted them didn't know what he asked to get into the account. My husband said isn't it stand procedure to ask for the password before entering an account?? I want to press fraud charges against both verizon and my husbands ex wife not sure how to go about it but i will figure it out. thanks for the advise.

Yes that is standard procedure to ask for the password as I have verizon and whenever I have questions about my account they always ask me for my password. She obviously got someone that really didn't know what they were doing.
I think that you might have to file a police report and report that as fraud to give to Verizon as proof that this was not your fault and you had no knowledge of this taking place. I know that is what I would do if I were in your shoes. Good luck.

If this happened within the last thirty days you can return the phone to the place it was gotten from and cancel the upgrade. You will need to have everything that came with the phone and the box is intact (ie haven't submitted the rebate which requires the barcode to be cut off.)
Contact Verizon and ask for their Fraud/Security department, everytime an account is accessed it leaves an electronic fingerprint as to who entered the account. If they had to bypass security it should have left what method of verification was used.
It is possible that she new the password? Is it your stepdaughter and does she have a phone on the account?
Was the store an actual Verizon corporately owned store or a dealer?
There is a big different between the two.
When you go in to a dealer they will access your account by phone number and last four digits of your SSN. If the account is password protected the agent will be required to input the password. You cannot bypass this (as is allowed by Sprint).
If you go to a Corporate store and say you don't remember the password they will verify who you are by valid ID.
Here is how it likely would go:
Rep: And what is your password?
Customer: I don't remember it (or I don't have one with a surprised look on face).
Rep: Do you have your Driver's license?
Since she has the same name, except for the middle initial.
Customer: Here it is, but it has my old address on it and they have my middle initial wrong on the account.
Rep: Ok, thank you Ms. X, what can I do for you today?
I am a Verizon Dealer and I have seen this happen before. Because the contracts are entered into the system orally (as in you don't fill out anything prior to the contract being printed) Mistakes happen. I see mispellings all the time.
Before you decide to go after Verizon you will need to have proof that they new this was not you.
I would file a theft report with your local police against her and send it to Verizon and they should remove the upgrade from your account and reset your contract to what it was prior to this.

I am not sure if you got this taken care of yet.. but the one statement above about getting a police report is true. YOu will need that as well as proof of residency "where you were receiving your bills"
there is a number you could call. its a 800 number verizon's fraud department. They could assist you in what they absolutely need from you to dispute it..

Someone hacked our daughter's Verizon wireless account while we were were out of town and had 2 phones sent to a foreclosed house 1,000 miles away from our home/billing address. We went to Verizon wireless where they asked for her ID 3 times then told us they could not give her the address where 'her' phones were sent. Our son called a buddy at ATT Wireless, who just laughed and said they HAD to give us the address. (we had gone to ATT from Verizon months ago due to poor customer service, my daughter is waiting for her plan to run out). They made these fraudulant changes to her account over the phone, but initially refused to change back in person. The phones were sent to 3536 218TH ST, MATTESON, IL 60443-2737 with an email address of elite930@gmail.com.
I had some one hack my verizon account too!
The wierd thing is the same email address elite930@gmail.com AND the mailing address were the same in Il that you posted! Verizion read me the transcript of what was said to change my email primary address and mailing address. It was a women who didn't know the password, but knew my mailing address, which was beand new and only, I mean only my soon to be ex knew that info. I assumed he was hackinging into my account to see who I was calling and am pressing charges against HIM for this. I am going to clip and paste this infor to the police AND make sure Verizion knows they have someone who is hacking into many accounts and track the IP address down. I could only track it as far as Mountain View CA. I called the old man who lives at that address. I wonder if he is in on it?
