Apparently UCB turned over debt to a 2nd CA because they couldn't validate and I got a call from the 2nd CA a few days ago. They said they mailed a letter to me on the 14th and I have yet to receive anything.

Do I need to find out the address etc. to mail them a validation request letter or do I just wait until they contact me by mail? I have not received any more calls from them since the initial call a few days ago.

Do I have 30 days to send them a VR letter regardless if they sent a letter to me or not?

first, I would wait, since it has only been this past week. Sometimes it takes a few extra days before the letter shows up in your mail. I am not trying to excuse them, but the important thing right now is that you have the address to send your DV request back to them.

And yes, you have 30 days from when they first informed you of the debt. Dont wait if they dont send you something--many times we can get addresses for you in here because of how many people here deal with these CA's. What is the name of the new CA?

GC Partners is what the CA told me. She gave me these numbers 866-800-1472 / 847-622-2909 but the caller id came up 847-741-7841. I called one of the numbers and they answered as GC Services. I did find a CA in Elgin IL with this name over the internet. That might be it.
