Searched a recent phone call I got. Came from Wakefield and Associates of Colorado.
Do NOT know reason for call, since they called in the middle of MY night. Normally, I can NOT accept phone calls between 8AM and 9PM. Unless I specifically have someone call me back, so I know to expect a call.
So, naturally, I'm NOT gonna answer. And as usual, they knowingly and willingly failed to leave a message.
Has anyone dealt with these people? People, a term probably used very lightly! When dealing with CA's etc...
Would I be netter off to cover my bases, and send a letter, CMRRR, or just move on to next step and send a FOAD letter instead?? Since any debts I might have are beyond SOL. And should have fallen from Credit reports well before Dec 2008.
Information much appreciated.
Thanks.

hiya, havent seen you around in a while!

OK, first I would check your credit reports, its possible that they are reporting on there now so you can get an idea of what account they are calling about.

Then, review the info they reported with your records, its also quite possible that they re-aged a debt so they could report it even though the debt actually has passed the reporting time standard as per the FCRA/FACTA.

And once you have done that, send them a DV letter via certified mail. Dont send this letter until you know if they are on your reports or not. That way, you will know exactly what they have done up to that point. But I would NOT send them a FOAD letter without doing this first, for example you may be the victim of ID theft, and they could be calling about a debt that someone else opened fraudulently in your name. If you tell them to FOAD, you wont ever know if that is the case and cleaning up the mess later will take a lot more work on your part.

I've been around. Lurking mostly.
Haven't had a need to post anything until now.
Lost post I had, was about a number that called at all times
of the night, MY night! Filed several complaints through the local/national Do Not Call lists. Which helped for a bit.
Then, I took it a step farther, and filed a FL AG complaint. Since this company was in Jacksonville, FL. Had to do this 2-3 times.
Since the last time, I've gotten nothing on my cell phone.

I'll check up on things in the near future. Have other projects in
the works right now, that are taking my time/money! Once I get to that point, I'll send out a letter, CM3R as needed.
Then return with more questions, as they arise.

Thanks for the info!!
