Wells Fargo sent me to collections

Ok, I had a account for 10 yrs with them. Had some problems and it went negative. so I have made 4 payments paying it down and still owed $309. On Jan 18 a guy calls me yelling at me that I better pay it all by 1/22 or its going to collections. I told him I have been make payments and was scheduled to make another one on 1/25... He then began to get really upset telling me thats not enough and he was closing my account and sending me to collections now. SO at that point I told him do what he has to do and stop calling me at work.. Now today at 11am I get a call at work from a lady saying she has my accont from Wells Fargo for collections and I need to set up payments. I was so mad that she called my work that I told her I was sick of this that I was making payments and told her the story and that NO ONE is supposed to call my work. she then says she will remove my work number but I need to make a good faith payment within 10 days and she will be calling in 10 days. Does anyone have any suggestions here. I really can not afford much she wants $75 every 2 weeks. I can probly pay $75 a month. I do owe the money but I just dont have it all. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you]

I am not sure, I left the number at my work. I can let you know Monday. She sounded like a outside collection agency but you never know. The part that makes me the maddest is I was paying payments to them every 2 weeks until they went crazy on me. If they would have left it be I would have been able to pay it off in 3 pay periods. Just can not understand how they can turn you over to collections when I was making payments. He wouldnt even let me speak.

Right now it seems to be their in house collections from the letter I received in the mail. How should I proced since I was making payments and they still sent it to collections? Thank you for your suggestions

It is there option to send you to collections, regardless of whether or not you are paying.

In house and first party collections are not bound by the FDCPA so they can call you at work.

Can they call your work if it is not allowed by your employer?

Can they call your work if it is not allowed by your employer? this could cause a problem with me at work. I spoke with someone from Wells Fargo today and she was much nicer. she told me I have 30 days to pay it all and if I cant then it goes to outside collections. I am pretty sure I can do it in 30 days so I will just go from there.

they are the original creditor so they can call your work but most usually stop if you explain that you cannot receive phone calls there. i have found that if you keep in touch with them, they will feel the need to call you less.
