I have a debt that is over 10 years old. I lived in CO when I aquired it. I now live in VA.
As far as i can tell it is past the SOL in both states, however it has been sold from one agency to the next, Wells Fargo has no idea who has the legitimate claim, and i have disputed it with the reporting agency and they say it is valid.

Kelly, what kind of a debt is it? Is it a credit card debt? Statute of Limitations (SOL) in Colorado for oral contract, written contract, promissory note is 6 years. It is 3 years for open ended accounts. In Virginia the SOL for oral contract, and open ended accounts is 3 years. It is 5 years for written contract, and 6 years for promissory note. However, if the debt was incurred in Co, then the SOL of CO will apply.
When was the last payment made on this account? You need to pull a copy of your credit report to check who now holds the account, and when was the last payment made.
