if this company is calling looking for someone you do NOT know and will not stop calling, tell them to "Cease and Desist"

unfortunately a verbal cease and desist doesn't work.people have to send the cease and desist.i recommend it sent certified mail return receipt.

actually a verbal cease and desist will work, DEPENDING on the type of debt theyre trying to collect. Student Loan collectors and Credit Card collectors have different laws they go by, some are similar. for instance, a CC collector calls and you just hang up, they will call you back the next day. if you hang up on, lets say WAM, by law they have to wait 14 days before they are allowed to call back, if they accidently do call within the 14 day period, they have violated the FDCPA and can be fined and/or further actions. CC collectors are more rude and cut throat.

yeah, and how do you prove a verbal cease and desist?you need a paper trail to prove FDCPA violations in that respect.
