I live in IL & This company called me this morning (I almost got them confused with West Asset Management, which I have heard of before). I did not answer the phone and let them leave a message(have not listened to it yet, I find they just upset and me frazzle me more). 10 seconds later the phone at my part time job was ringing and it was a Kate Hamilton asking for me. I played dumb and pretended to be someone else. Miss Hamilton asked when I'd be in next and also went as far to say there was an important matter to deal with that was linked with my social security number.

Has anyone dealt with them before? Are they legitimate. I know there is a website...not that, that means anything...

I will not be calling this company back (I know how difficult it can be to get a word in with these people), but I am currently putting together an email asking for validation of debt to be sent in the mail, as that is law within 5 business days after the initial phone call. I will also be asking them to not call me at work.

I have had my fair share of rough patches and debts and have no problem re-paying them. But it's so frustrating when it seems like every week a different "debt collector"' is coming after me for some "debt". And 9/10 times they are a scam.

What should I do? Any help woul dbe greatly appreciated.

i went ahead and reported them to the BBB because I saw they responded promptly to posts on there towards their business. they responded with the settlement that they would remove my name and all numbers associated with it and if i wanted to "settle the debt" i could call. i responded with i would call and settle the debt once i received a debt validation letter in the mail!

There is no need to call them back. Do send a DV letter via certified mail. If they don???t give a reply to your DV letter, then send a Cease and Desist letter.
If a DV letter is not responded to, there is no reason to send a cease and desist...this stupid advise is always given by unregistered posters who probably have never read the FDCPA. A DV is a cease until they verify/validate the debt.
